Format

The Sunshine Cup is a competitive match play event amongst friends at River Hills Country Club in honor of Mike Savoie (aka "Sunshine").

This is a 2-Man Team Format played as 18 holes of modified alternate shot (Chapman alternate shot). The ball will be played per conditions (winter rules) or as agreed upon by opponents. A minimum of 6 tee shots from each player must be played for the 18 holes. No minimum required for front or back 9 individually.

Playoff holes of all matches return to #1 Tee Box and are played under Chapman Alternate Shot format until a winner is declared.

Brackets

The 10+ Bracket has 18 teams and includes two play-in matches. It is played from Tournament Tees and requires a minimum combined team handicap index of 10 as of January 1st of the tournament year.

The 20+ Bracket has two 16-team halves, with the winners playing for the overall 20+ championship. Played from Blue/White Tees, with a minimum combined handicap index of 20 as of January 1st.

Combined index requirements are intended to be firm; however, the Committee reserves the right to make minor adjustments depending on sign-ups. All players must be RHCC members at the Entry Deadline.

Round Schedule & Deadlines

Matches must adhere strictly to the round schedule. If teams do not complete their match by the deadline, they have the option to conduct a chip-off from above the 18th hole.

Exceptions to Deadlines

1. If one team agrees to forfeit, the other team will advance.
2. If the teams obtain agreement from all members of the team waiting on them, and the Committee receives an email prior to chip-off deadline that all parties agree to an extension, then an extension may be granted for the completion date of the match in question; however, subsequent deadlines will not be extended.
3. If a player is unavailable, the team may elect a proxy player, provided the proxy's handicap index is greater than or equal to that of the unavailable player at the time of the match.

Grand Final — Double Match Rule

The normal double elimination concept is maintained for bracket championships. The Losers Bracket winning team must beat the Winners Bracket team in two separate matches. If the Winners Bracket team wins the first match, the bracket is complete.

General Rules

All matches must be played at River Hills Country Club, Lake Wylie, SC. All rules issues are to be handled on the course per the rules of match play, or by calling the Pro Shop before the next hole.

Brackets are paired based on a random draw at the Draw Party/Calcutta held in February.
